Pamela Lyndon Travers OBE (/ ˈtrævərz / TRAV-ərz; born Helen Lyndon Goff; 9 August – 23 April ) was an Australian-born British writer who spent most of her career in England. [1]. She is best known for the Mary Poppins series of books, [2] which feature the eponymous magical nanny.

In these stories, P.L. Travers tells us, there is also an imprisoned princess who is the youngest brother's complementary figure.

She took as her pseudonym the name Pamela Lyndon Travers, usually in the form P. L. Travers. She had her first literary success in when the first of eight Mary Poppins books was published.
